Many people have become accustomed to being strong and relying solely on themselves in the face of forced emigration. In difficult times, this can help us cope, but it is often accompanied by harsh self-criticism, feelings of shame and the belief that we must manage on our own, even when we feel tired, doubtful or in need of support.
At the meeting, we will discuss: why the inner critic can be so strong; how shame and the habit of being overly demanding of oneself develop;
why, in difficult moments, we sometimes find it hard to treat ourselves with understanding and support.
You will receive psychological education and practical guidance to help you: better understand your inner dialogue; recognise moments of self-criticism; and gradually develop self-compassion and self-empathy.
