We have arranged internship programs to help Ukrainian professionals integrate into the labor market more quickly and contribute in fields aligned with their education and professional experience. These internships provide Ukrainians with the opportunity to gain practical experience, learn about Swedish work culture, and build connections in their chosen fields.

Internships are an essential bridge between education, experience, and long-term employment. By providing Ukrainians with a structured entry into the Swedish job market, we help them gain confidence, develop expertise, and create pathways to sustainable careers.
Through collaboration with Swedish businesses, we ensure that each intern receives meaningful training, professional growth opportunities, and a real chance to contribute to the workforce.
Together, we create lasting opportunities for both individuals and companies.
Through a unique partnership between Help Ukraine Gothenburg (HUG) and Sahlgrenska University Hospital, more than 20 Ukrainian healthcare professionals—doctors, nurses, and researchers—have been successfully integrated into the Swedish healthcare system.
These professionals have been matched with key departments, including neurology, urology, pediatrics, orthopedics, ophthalmology, radiology, thoracic surgery, genetic laboratories, nephrology, and oncology. Their expertise has made an immediate impact, ensuring continuity of care and even preventing surgery cancellations.
Beyond employment, this initiative has accelerated language learning, with participants improving their Swedish from A1/A2 to B2/C1 within just six months. An impressive 87% have had their contracts extended, allowing them to continue contributing to Swedish healthcare.
All participating specialists are now working towards taking proficiency tests to obtain Swedish medical licenses, ensuring long-term career development and further strengthening Sweden’s healthcare system.
HUG is proud to support these professionals on their journey, fostering international collaboration and reinforcing the vital role of skilled medical workers in times of crisis.
